This device meets the standards required by our local fire marshal for safety. The long cord, metal housing, joule rating, breaker, etc. fit our needs to protect band equitment. The cord fits easily around the device for storage and travel. I hightly recommend this.

I have been disappointed in most of the power strips with surge protectors that I have bought and used in the past. Unlike the others, this is a high-quality, professional grade power strip surge protector. Pay a little more and get this one, especially if you need to roll it up and take it outside. It has a cleaver cord wrap design.

Seems to work well with 42" plasma TV. Very hard to pinpoint its efficacy since our southeastern region is not in thunderstorm season. Not that cheap neither too expensive! 7 sockets with 3 of them spread apart. Metal cover instead of the typical plastic, seems to be very well made with long cord, cord wraparound and with a very solid feel to it. Also 4 unused-socket covers provided. Since a well renowned company to boot I must say I am very satisfied at this point - unless something drastic happens at a future major thunderstorm!!
